Tea Party of Louisiana (TPoL) Voter Checklist for 14 Constitutional Amendments on November 4, 2014 Ballot for your use and consideration:
The Tea Party of Louisiana (TPoL) strives to return our country to the founding principles which made our nation great. The guiding principles of the Tea Party of Louisiana are found in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. Our U.S. Constitution was written to "ordain, establish and promote” the “general welfare" and to guarantee "equal protection" for all Americans.
In recent years it has become fashionable to “tailor” our laws to benefit various selected entities over the general well being of the rest of the citizenry. Several of the following 2014 proposed Amendments to the Louisiana Constitution seek to implement legislation to promote the “specific” welfare of some, as opposed to the "general" welfare of all. When we seek to single out one or more selected individuals or groups to benefit, we diminish the ideal of the U.S. Constitution's guarantee of "equal protection." These proposals continue to head us down the road which ultimately leads to serfdom. Please consider voting NO to all such proposals which pit one group of taxpayers against another or seek to benefit one group of citizens at the expense of another. Unfortunately, the Amendments of 2014 promote Crony Capitalism at its worst!
Tea Party of Louisiana (TPoL) Voter Checklist for 14 Constitutional Amendments on November 4, 2014 Ballot for your use and consideration:
CA NO.1. (Act 439 - HB 533) - Medical Assistance Trust Fund. Amendment No. 1 would impose additional constraints on balancing the state budget and would promote waste and inefficiency for those nursing homes and home-health agencies that receive taxpayer funds from the state and create a preference for nursing homes over home care.
NO. Amendment #1 is nothing more than pure “Crony Capitalism” for the large nursing home corporations. Most importantly the Amendment would require the legislature to appropriate ever increasing funds to the Medicaid Trust Fund.
CA NO.2. (Act 438 - HB 532) - Hospital Stabilization Fund. Provides for increased spending and creation of new constitutionally protected fund without specifying how – another pass it, you will like it!
NO. Amendment No.2 is more “Crony Capitalism” by the Hospital Lobby and politicians who receive their donations for campaigns. Leave current hospital funding methods as they are, with no new assessment and no special constitutional fund.
CA NO.3. (Act 871 - HB 488) - Tax Sale. This Amendment would allow the use of “private firms” to be hired to collect delinquent property taxes & process selling of tax delinquent property.
NO. Another “Crony Capitalism” amendment to hire friends of politicians to do the job that the already paid state and local government employees should be required to do. Send a message to legislators and vote NO on this proposal also. The Amendment opens the door to more "crony capitalism" and gives the local parishes and towns the ability to grant tax exemptions to their political buddies and contributors.
CA NO.4. (Act 873 - HB 628) - Investment of Public Funds. Provides for the expansion of government by creating a new agency that would cost $300,000 – 400,000 per year to operate, and provide a new vehicle for corruption and misuse of Tax payer funds.
NO. Another “Crony Capitalism” amendment together with the expansion of government!!!
CA NO.5. (Act 875 - HB 96) - Remove Mandatory Retirement Age of Judges.
YES. TPoL believes age is not the test and we now have sufficient capabilities in place to remove judges who will not step down but are not capable of performing their duties.
CA NO.6. (Act 870 - HB 111) - Fire and Police Protection Orleans Parish. Provides a new 10-mill cap from the current 5-mil cap for Orleans parish.
NO. Orleans parish already has the highest general and special millage caps in Louisiana.
CA NO.7. (Act 433 - SB 96) - Disabled Veterans.
Yes. Provides for the higher homestead exemption of the 2010 law for all veterans with a 100% unemployability rating as well as the 100% service-connected rating.
CA NO.8. (Act 434 - SB 128) - Artificial Reef Development Fund. Another “Crony Capitalism” amendment trying to create yet another constitutional protected fund.
NO. Why have legislators if we are going to have all these constitutionally protected funds that dictate where taxes are spent regardless of time and need. Make legislators vote on where our tax dollars need to be spent and duke it out with the Governor so we all can see the process.
CA NO.9. (Act 432 - SB 56) - Special Assessment Level - Disabled. This amendment would delete the requirement that disabled homeowners under the age of 65 certify every year that their income meets the requirement for the exemption - $67,670 in 2013.
NO. To create another give away to those who may not deserve it. This is not for our Vets it’s for the most part all of those who “newly qualified as “disabled” over the past 6 years. If they earn more than $67,670 per year do you think they should get even more special benefits?
CA NO.10. (Act 436 - HB 256) - Redemption Period, Abandoned Property. This amendment would reduce the redemption period for vacant blighted or abandoned property sold at tax sale to 18 months (from the current 3 years) after the sale has been recorded.
NO. We do not need to start making it easier for more government abuse and infringement on another of our fundamental rights - Property Rights. Say NO to these quick sale schemes.
CA NO.11. (Act 874 - HB 341) - Executive Branch Departments. Provides for increase in state departments from 20 to 21.
NO. We want a reduction in government size and not a growth in government and bureaucracy!
CA NO.12. (Act 437 - HB 426) - Wildlife and Fisheries Commission. Adds more needless details to the state constitution for commission membership.
NO. Send a message to stop cluttering the constitution with minutia like this and do it right in a statue.
CA NO.13. (Act 872 - HB 489) - Lower Ninth Ward Property Sale. Provides for government owned property to be sold to “specified classes of buyers” at nominal rates below market value.
NO. Another “Crony Capitalism” amendment to sell tax payer owned property to friends of politicians at unbelievable low rates of $100 per parcel. Make them sell it on a competitive basis and let the tax payers reap a better return. Send a message to these crony capitalist legislators and vote NO on this proposal also. The Amendment opens the door to more "crony capitalism" and gives the local parishes and towns the ability to grant tax exemptions to their political buddies and contributors.
CA NO.14. (Act 435 - HB 131) - Tax Rebates, Incentives, Abatements. Provides for the introduction of Tax Rebates, Incentives or Abatements only during the Fiscal session.
Yes. This would help bring the right attention to these bills when the concentration is on all Fiscal matters versus having these “Crony Capitalist” pieces of legislation slip thru during the general sessions. Vote YES to help limit the Crony Capitalism!!!

Tea Party of Louisiana speaks Up for Congressman Cassidy for Appropriately calling out Harry Reid
BATON ROUGE - The Tea Party of Louisiana (TPoL) strongly supports Representative Bill Cassidy’s characterization of Senator Harry Reid as “running a plantation” in the US Senate, and condemns those who would criticize Congressman Cassidy for simply “telling it like it is”. We appreciate Congressman Cassidy’s courage and willingness to “stand in the gap” to protect our country’s future.
The foolishly delusional policies Senator Reid has shepherded, and the outright Alinsky-ist lies he has told the American people, have subverted efforts to secure our borders, undermined the greatest health care system in the world, made “tax refugees” of American businesses by chasing them from our shores, and brought our country to the brink of economic disaster by means of a moronic fiscal policy and a regulatory bureaucracy that is so terribly oppressive and counter to the best interests of the common citizen, that characterizing Senator Reid as the embodiment of the fictional Simon Legree is absolutely accurate. Senator Reid and those who support and defend him are the very elite who operate solely for their own benefit, and certainly not for the good of the American people. If not a “plantation” mentality on Senator Reid’s part, then what is this? In Senator Reid’s mind, we all exist only to serve him and advance his “causes”. One can only wonder what plantation master is “pulling Senator Reid’s strings”.
Those calling for “civility” when dealing with a demagogue like Senator Reid, and those critical of the bold candor shown by Congressman Cassidy in “calling Senator Reid out”, exhibit a level of naivety rivaling that of Neville Chamberlin’s foolish appeasement of Adolf Hitler. Such misguided defenders are as dangerous as the evil they defend, because they are enablers to the architects of our nation’s destruction.
Senator Reid represents a political mind-set that seeks to wipe out the self-reliant American way of life and replace it with a “Socialist Utopia”, and in his delusional myopia, he fails to see the utter destruction that will result if his forces are ever, God forbid, successful. Our nation is in peril, and TPoL is grateful for Congressman Cassidy and his bold opposition to those, like Senator Reid and Senator Mary Landrieu, who would, by their ill-conceived plans, destroy our freedoms and cast us all back into serfdom. TPoL urges the defeat of anyone who defends or supports Senator Harry Reid.

Tea Party of Louisiana Endorses Lenar Whitney
for US Representative, 6th Congressional District
TPoL cites Lenar Whitney’s proven track record, courage and bold conservatism
September 3, 2014 Press Release
BATON ROUGE - The Tea Party of Louisiana (TPoL) is proud to announce its official endorsement of State Representative Lenar Whitney and its support for her candidacy to be Louisiana’s Representative for the US 6th Congressional District of Louisiana.
While TPoL recognizes that there are several worthy conservative candidates for this office, Lenar’s “track record” as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, proves she is a true conservative sharing the values embodied in our Declaration of Independence, our Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Lenar Whitney has also proven that she has both the courage and the character to stand for what is right, and not merely what is popular or politically expedient.
Our endorsement of Lenar Whitney is based solely on her record of working with the people in trying to deal with the problems we face in reducing government, taxes, and spending. She is a proven proponent of the Tea Party initiative and has earned our endorsement and support, and it’s time for us to speak up for her.
TPoL requests all conservative minded voters of the 6th Congressional District to join with us to elect one of us, Lenar Whitney, to Congress as our next US Representative, 6th Congressional District.
The election will be held on November 4. You can learn more about Lenar Whitney at www.LenarWhitney.com
